The mobile statistics from the past 7 years are predicting strong continued growth for mobile apps, smartphones and tablets. According to the Business Insider, Global Internet Device shipments of smartphones and tablets grew while PC shipments declined. Tablets, in particular, are looking to take a huge leap in 2013. The U.S. tablet penetration is hovering around 25%, so there is a lot of room for growth.

Mobile Apps Growth

The demand for mobile apps will continue to grow, trending upward as the demand for smartphones and tablets grows. iOS (iPad and iPhone) apps and Android apps are the two platforms highest in demand.

What does this mean for your business? Ignore the growth of smartphones and tablets at your business’ peril. As the demand grows for mobile, customers are going to expect the same technology (or better) that they are able to access at home. If your business wants to succeed and deliver information to your sales channels, a mobile app is no longer nice to have, it’s a MUST have.
